Aircheck is two apps, included in one purchase. A menu bar app for your Mac, and a receiver for your Apple TV. Both must be open, on the same network. There is nothing to pair and no device to pick.
Getting started
- Open Aircheck on your Mac. It lives in the menu bar — there is no dock icon and no window.
- Open Aircheck on your Apple TV and leave it open.
- Drag an image onto the menu bar icon, or press ⌘V to paste one.
Using it
- Select on the Apple TV remote cycles Fit, 1:1 and Fill. Each Apple TV remembers its own.
- The × in the Mac panel takes the picture off air. Televisions return to colour bars.
- Right-click the menu bar icon to quit.
- Formats: PNG, JPEG, HEIC, HEIF, GIF, TIFF, BMP and WebP.
The Apple TV shows snow and NO CONNECTION
It cannot find a Mac transmitting. Check that:
- The Mac app is running — look for its icon in the menu bar.
- Both devices are on the same network. A guest network or a phone hotspot will separate them.
- macOS has local network permission: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network. Without it the Mac cannot advertise itself, and it fails silently.
The Apple TV shows colour bars and CONNECTED
That is working. A Mac is transmitting and no image is on air yet. Drop one.
The image looks soft
Press Select to check the mode. Fit shows the whole image, and at a whole-number scale it is pixel-exact. 1:1 shows actual pixels and crops anything larger than the screen. Fill covers the screen and crops the overflow — it is the only mode that can hide part of your image.
Screen saver
On the Apple TV: Settings → Apps → Aircheck. Choose whether the screen saver may start while an image is showing, and after how long.
